These are worthy words and good theology, which claim the attention of many composers, so it is hardly surprising that Bob Chilcott, one of choral music's best and most prolific composers, has made his own excellent contribution with this three part SSA setting. Beginning in the upper voices, "with a gentle lilt", the music expresses quite admirably the message of the words ... Structurally not difficult, this setting concludes in block harmony, and should not present any difficulties to choirs of average ability, while chjoirs of a higher standard will find this an asset to their repertoire. I am very happy to recommend it. Henry Howell, Australian Music Teacher March 2002 The style is full of a charm and warmth that one has come to expect of Chilcott and there is no doubt that it will capture the hearts of singers and listeners alike. Music Teacher March 2002 His music, possesses the winning combination of melodic beauty, harmonic attractiveness, imaginative textures and thematic development, which together form an immediately appealing style reaching across the age barrier in any choir. These are beautifully crafted, delightful little gems which will be enjoyed by everyone. Though three-part division is occasionally necessary, the parts are very singable, not hard, and will rapidly be learned. Organists' Review August 2001 [Young singers] will also enjoy two settings by Bob Chilcott: a folksy 5/8 setting of 'Loving shepherd of thy sheep', which breaks into three parts and has a very effective ending, and 'Irish Blessing', here arranged for SSA, with its warm, lilting melody. CMQ January 2001 Bob Chilcott as an ex-member of and arranger for the King's Singers, knows how to write a good tune. This is most in evidence in two short anthems for upper voices - 'Irish Blessing' and 'Loving Shepherd' - both of which would admirably suit a children's choir of moderate ability. Bob Chilcott has been involved with choral music all his life, first as a Chorister and then a Choral Scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Later, he sang and composed music for 12 years with the King's Singers. His experiences with that group, his passionate commitment to young and amateur choirs, and his profound belief that music can unite people, have inspired him both to compose full-time and, through proactive workshopping, to promote choral music worldwide.

Misleading book title

The book's title and editorial review is very misleading. I was expecting a book that will teach me how to do my own modifications on my sub, such as intake, exhaust..etc.. Instead, all this book touches on is what you can or should buy. It describes all the diff type of air intake kit, diff type of turbos, diff type of exhaust and diff type of ecu etc... All the info you can easily get off the internet for free.. Haiz, very dissappointed in this book. The book title should be, buyers guide to aftermarket subaru parts, not builders guide!

When I read through the book, I wasn't overly impressed. It kinda reads like a product catalogue with lots of parts identified but lacking depth. But, now that I've had the book for a while, it's kinda grown on me. When I go looking for the next area to improve (coilovers, brakes, etc.), I tend to go reaching for this book. That's worth something...

This is a very nice book if you don't know much about cars. If, like me, you were hoping for a more in-depth type of content from that offered in Subiesport magazine, don't bother. I learned absolutely nothing that I didn't know before. For me it's pretty much useless, but I do want to emphasize that the author has good intentions and that it is a well crafted book. I used to love this kind of book when I was 12.

Our object in writing the present book has been to make up for this deficiency by giving a comprehensive account of the growth and development of the science of mathematics in India from the earliest known times down to the seventeenth century of the Christian era.



It has been decided to publish the book in two vols. The first vol. deals with the history of the numeral notations and of arithmetic. The second vol. is devoted to algebra, a science in which the ancient Hindus made remarkable progress.



Vol. I contains two chapters. Chapter 1 gives account of various devices employed by the Hindus for denoting numbers. Chapter 2 deals with arithmetic in general.



Vol. II of this work devoted to the history of Algebra in India. The use of symbols-letters of the alphabet to denote unknowns-and equations are the foundation of thwe of the algebra. The Hindus were the first to make systematic use of the letters of the alphabet to denote unknowns.

Best History of Hindu Mathematics

Inexpensive but comprehensive two-volume set. Covers the history of Hindu mathematics far more comprehensively than any other source I've found. Well written, doesn't suffer from the language and printing errors ocasionally seen in older Indian mathematics publications. The Chakravala algorithm and its relationship to continued fractions is presented particularly well with excellent detail. Recommended.

A rare book from India

An amazing book. Looking at India today, it is almost unbelievable that Hindus were so far advanced so many centuries before the rest of the world. Bibhutibhushan was born in Chittagong district of Bengal in Undivided India in a very poor family living below the poverty line. His book is now considered as a source book on ancient Indian mathematics. He became Professor of Applied mathematics in Calcutta University in 1930s. At the end of that decade he renounced the world and became Adwaitabadi (Unitary conception of God in Hindu religion) Sanyasi and spent rest of his life writing several volumes on Hindu relligion.
