These are worthy words and good theology, which claim the attention of many composers, so it is hardly surprising that Bob Chilcott, one of choral music's best and most prolific composers, has made his own excellent contribution with this three part SSA setting. Beginning in the upper voices, "with a gentle lilt", the music expresses quite admirably the message of the words ... Structurally not difficult, this setting concludes in block harmony, and should not present any difficulties to choirs of average ability, while chjoirs of a higher standard will find this an asset to their repertoire. I am very happy to recommend it. This is most in evidence in two short anthems for upper voices - 'Irish Blessing' and 'Loving Shepherd' - both of which would admirably suit a children's choir of moderate ability. About the Author
Bob Chilcott has been involved with choral music all his life, first as a Chorister and then a Choral Scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Later, he sang and composed music for 12 years with the King's Singers. His experiences with that group, his passionate commitment to young and amateur choirs, and his profound belief that music can unite people, have inspired him both to compose full-time and, through proactive workshopping, to promote choral music worldwide.
