Could have been better

This story could have been great or even a little better if the author had put a bit more personality behind the characters. Also she gives you a brief history of the two womens past in the beginning of the book. Then when the flashback happens it is sudden and takes over half the book. I would have liked some more meat to the two of them getting together and what they did to get where they are now. To me the characters seemed one demensional. The only one I really liked was Cyndi, Danis friend.

Quite Enjoyable!

This book, I believe the writer's debut, is quite enjoyable. The romance is heartfelt, the women very likable and really a very good light read.
Given that McCann seems to have a real sense of good plotting and the right touch for true romance writing, I am really hoping that her next novel shows some improvements, especially in characterization technique.
Characterization doesn't lack -- that's not the problem. I wonder if McCann has screenwriting experience, or perhaps it's just inexperience. When a new character arrives on the page, McCann gives us the entire history of the character, the whole deal, as musings by the character whose point-of-view we're experiencing. After the presentation of the character dialogue ensues and there is no further characterization given. That leads to secondary characters we understand, because we're given their bio when they show up, but who don't grow or change or surprise or delight us as their character emerges over the course of a scene.
If Jeanne McCann can smooth out her characterization technique then I think she'll be a real treat to read in the future. Maybe I sound negative, but the book was good enough that I didn't just stop with "4 stars, enjoyable read." I liked it so much I wanted her next book to be better.

Wonderful story - a delightful read with loads of drama to satisfy any romance reader

This is terrific story that is a complete page turner. The plot was very believable. The story starts present day with the main character flashing back to her college years 20 years earlier and a romance that suddenly and inexplicably ended. The main characters are truly nice people and I was really pulling for them to overcome the past.

I couldn't put the book down until the end. The pace of the story was excellent and kept me completely engaged. I liked how the flashback occurred in the middle third of the book rather than weaving in and out through the story, it was very smooth and easy to follow. By the end of the flashback the characters were real people to me and wonderfully fleshed out.

If you are in the mood to read a wonderful romance about two really great people with quite a bit of heartbreak this is the book for you. My only wish is that the story was 100 pages longer as these characters were so great to read about.

Could be better.

I have trouble imagining such a large number of men and 1 woman fitting into anyone's treehouse, no matter how well-built it is. The sex scenes were predictable at best and full of language no woman in her early 20s would use. "Rectum"? Really?! And would a co-ed really call her step-uncle "Buddy"? Anyone who visits a college campus for even one day would see that she does not talk like real women her age would.

I realize this is a fantasy, but the best fantasies are rooted in reality and must be somewhat believable. I'd love to see this story through a more realistic filter, in which the protagonist feels genuine mortification by her actions at the hands of equally-embarrassed male relatives. Maybe this incident brings Holly and her step-dad closer. Maybe he ships her off to some sexy therapist. Maybe this creates lingering tensions that finally blossom into lust. Maybe they end up skinny-dipping in the pool or eating a romantic dinner together au natural. Or maybe she has an awkward heart-to-heart with her step-dad and uncles before anything kinky takes place.

Has anyone ever considered a CMNF nature walk between a naked Holly and her fully-clothed step-dad and step-uncles? It would be quite a memorable experience for all of them.

Die „liberalen Stammeslande“ , wie Bayern, W�rttemberg, Baden oder Hessen-Darmstadt waren Schauplatz einer regelrechten Polenbegeisterung, (...). Durch die Gr�ndung von unz�hligen Polenvereinen konnte, anhand der geschaffenen Organisationstrukturen, die Effizienz karitative Ma�nahmen verbessert und koordiniert werden. Daraus leitet sich eine zentrale Fragestellung ab: Was sind in Deutschland die Motivationsgr�nde f�r die enorme ‚Polenbegeisterung’ und die geleistete Hilfsbereitschaft?

Im Folgenden meiner Seminararbeit werde ich einige Aspekte, Grundlagen und Problematiken beleuchten, um diese Frage untersuchen zu k�nnen. Anf�nglich werde ich erl�utern, aus welchen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Gr�nden der polnische Aufstand von 1830/31 scheiterte und inwiefern die Situation des polnischen Gebietes durch das russl�ndische Reich ver�ndert wurde. Daraufhin analysiere ich die Stimmung der Bev�lkerung in den deutschen Staaten und die politischen Gegebenheiten, um die unterschiedlich starken Unterst�tzungsleistungen besser einordnen zu k�nnen. Die deutsche Hilfsbereitschaft differenzierte nicht nur auf lokaler Ebene, sondern auch auf tempor�rer, weshalb ich zwischen den deutsch-polnischen Verbindungen zur Zeit des eigentlichen Novemberaufstandes und im Rahmen der polnischen Emigration eine Trennung vornehme. Abschlie�end werde ich das spezielle Konzept der Polenvereine, deren institutioneller Charakter Sinnbild f�r die deutsch-polnische Freundschaft war, beurteilen.

About the Author

Edward F. Wright, DDS, MS, MAGD, is a professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He completed a one-year general dentistry residency and the University of Minnesota’s two-year TMJ and Craniofacial Pain Fellowship. He taught TMD diagnosis and treatment to more than 100 U.S. Air Force residents in general dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics. Upon retiring from the Armed Forces, he completed a two-year research fellowship in TMD diagnosis and treatment at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and taught TMD diagnosis and treatment to their general dentistry residents. He is now UTHSCSA’s Course Director for their predoctoral dental students’ TMD Course and Dental Anatomy and Occlusion Course, and teaches TMD to the school’s general dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics residents. Dr. Wright is the primary author of more than 30 journal articles.

The approach was fairly rigorous without being too much and of course you can adapt as you see fit. I have been homeschooling for 10 years and have one child graduated and in college and one in 7th. I tend toward an eclectic/unschooling approach but can definitely see myself using some of the resources she suggested particularly in the science area (I've already be in touch with Mr. Q!). I liked her emphasis on quality and also community/world awareness such as with the "free rice" site. If you are looking for curriculum help I would definitely recommend this book. I was able to look at it for free with my prime membership but am definitely considering purchasing just because I'd like to see the author get something for all of her work. I believe she also has a blog or website.

Good book, kindle unlimited, but I would have paid.

Lots of great links and information. For a first-time homeschooling grandmother, I've been nervous, but this book really helped me get organized. Boosted my confidence a lot!
