The price is right and it's simple to read.

There is not really that much to say about it. It's a good book and the price is right.

There are many ways for things to go wrong in Accounting textbooks (and I know, because I've read enough bad Accounting books) that I can't really think of ways in which to praise an Accounting textbook that goes *right*.

Verdict: Worth the price ($21, compared to $200ish for most Accounting books). Worth the time. Recommended.

E. Russell ("Rusty") Braziel is one of the most respected authorities in the field of energy information and markets. With an extensive trading and analytics background in the markets for natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil, he is uniquely qualified to interpret the economic, commercial and pricing consequences of the shale revolution.

Rusty is president and CEO of RBN Energy, a leading energy consultancy providing analysis and advisory services, best known for its rock-music themed Daily Energy Post, a blog that goes deep into the details about energy market trends, the mechanics of how energy markets function, and the workings of economic and operational energy models.

The musical theme of RBN's daily blog harkens back to Braziel's previous career in the music industry. From the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s he played bass, guitar and pedal steel in a number of rock and country groups in East Texas, Tulsa and Los Angeles.

Rusty spent 20 years with Texaco (now Chevron), serving as Vice President of Natural Gas Marketing and Trading and Manager of NGL Supply. Outstanding! By far, the best book on the energy markets that I've read in years.

This is not the story from the outside in, it is the story from the inside out. Braziel has spent his entire career in energy markets -- as a trader, in technology, in business development and now in analytics – and you can tell it from his real world description of events, and from his insights that cut through the hype and misinformation that usually accompanies explanations of today’s energy market turmoil. The book argues that everything that has happened in the shale era has happened for a reason. And that the reasons can not only be understood – they can be anticipated. For anyone that wants to understand where crude oil and natural gas markets are headed, this is the book to read.

Good oil/Gas book very current

I've read most of the fracking oil books. This book does a good job of explaining historic oil and gas, along with current issues. Explains enough of the physics of oil and gas. Also helped me understand the place of NGL's in the mix. Does good job of explaining North America status as oil/gas producer, and what that means for the US. Discusses the Midstream importance in affecting Hub prices. Didn't help me pic good MLP from a Bad MLP. Worth the money and time

Through his extensive experience Rusty Braziel explains the trends and why they occur based on the economics of each. I read his blog every day and now am recommending his book to all. Diarmuid O'Donovan is senior lecturer in Social and Preventive Medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and Director of Public Health in the Health Service Executive, Western Area. A medical doctor currently based in Ireland, he has worked in the United Kingdom, Zambia, and the Gambia.

The Picture of Health is worth 1000 Words

You've seen the usual atlas that shows a map of the world or a country.

This book takes flat, boring columnar data related to health and the causes of disease and turns it into fascinating color maps. They show the world, based on life expectancy, violence, impact of global warming, illnesses like cancer, respiratory disease, HIV/AIDS, tobacco, alcohol use, unhealthy diet, access to health care...

And the images show surprising, enlightening findings.

This book is pure fact and data, yet it kept me up the night I received it, reading just one more page.

Seeing the data visualized in color maps makes it so clear just how brutally the industrialized world is inflicting the death and illness causes by climate change upon the third world.

We see how the US is one of the most violent nations in the world, at least when it comes to murders of males. The safest places for males, in terms of murdered men per 100,000 are France, Switzerland and Japan. We can see that China is addicted to tobacco more than almost any other nation. And the most suicidal nations are Russia and Eastern Europe.

This is an obvious gem for people doing international work-- not just in health. It's good to know where the violence is in the world, where the life expectancy is under 40 years, where the doctors available per 10,000 people is a tiny fraction of what it is in most of the world.

It makes sense that a book that displays health measures would measure the use of health measures. In this case, it displays a map of world, displaying which countries count what percentage of deaths. The US, Europe, Australia, Argentina, Syria, Israel, Lebanon and Uruguay measure 100%. Much of the world records less than 25%, including, not suprisingly, if I may get political, Iraq.

I can even see this book as useful to marketers seeking to identify markets for products and services.

The planet is overflowing with numbers and raw data. If all of it could be displayed in such meaningful, insightful ways, we would understand the world and each other much better.

Put aside your presuppositions and let the evidence speak for itself

It seems that the previous reviewer is an individual who is sadly unwilling, or unable, to put aside their evolutionist presuppositions and give the evidence a chance. Evolution is a house of cards built on flimsy "science" that often contradicts its own precepts. If one is willing to analyze the evidence without evolutionary presuppositions that demand billions of years to make their theory even remotely plausible (though it is still obviously flawed- just consider that science has never been able to produce even a single-celled organism from non-living matter despite their best efforts, or that the only variation that we see on earth is the result of different combinations of pre-existing information already written in a particular organism's genetic code rather than from the chance evolution of any new genetic information), then the individual will have to, at the very least, admit that the argument for creation and a young earth is plausible, if not downright convincing. For those who are willing to think for themselves, rather than blindly accepting the blatant evolutinary propaganda of our day, this book will give you a plausible alternative theory (though I would argue it is fact as I acknowledge my own presuppositions-it is just that I have concluded through study that the idea of a Creator is much more consistant with the evidence we see around us than the idea of mindless, chance mutation somehow explaining the existance and the complexity of life) that will challenge you to consider why you believe what you believe. For those who are truly open to considering the evidence, you may even find that it will convince you of the validity of the young earth creationist viewpoint. Adults should be able to debate the issue without resorting to name-calling and overt disdain for those who disagree with them.

Following the recent dramatic rise in both natural and man-made disasters, humanitarian logistics has received increasing interest from both logistics researchers and practitioners. Provided that logistics operations in the emergency response are effective and efficient, the impact of disasters on affected populations can be drastically reduced. Relief operations involve many different actors operating in complex relationships so as to effectively and efficiently meet the various challenges of preparing for and responding to disasters. In some very recent studies, inter-organizational interactions have emerged among these various actors as an interesting area of development. More research would seem to be required to move from inter-agency coordination to cross-sector cooperation among humanitarian organizations and companies, with a special focus on logistics companies. This book focuses on one specific open question: in logistics and supply chain management, what are the cross-learning opportunities for both the businesses and humanitarian organizations that cooperate in disaster relief through partnership agreements? In terms of the available academic literature and management practice, this subject is still a poorly explored research area, and so the present study is one of the first attempts to thoroughly investigate the issue.

About the Author

Alessandra Cozzolino is an assistant professor of management at the Department of Management at Sapienza University in Rome, where she teaches innovation management and organization science. She gained her PhD in management and finance in 2007 at the same university. She also is a lecturer in management at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome. Her research focus is in the areas of humanitarian logistics and supply chain management, logistics services provider strategies, packaging innovation management, and sustainability within supply chains and operations. Her more recent publications have appeared in Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management and European Journal of Innovation Management. Amazing explanation of why we do what we do with money

I believe that investors are their own worst enemies because they are not equipped with an understanding of how to think about financial decisions. In this book, the author proves that investing generates powerful emotions that lead us to take certain actions that may not be in our best interest. He says that there is nothing in our lives that makes smart people feel as stupid as investing does. Being knowledgeable about this topic can help us make better investment decisions that will lead to more wealth. I don't believe that we can maximize our wealth until we learn how to control our minds.

What I like about this book is that the research provides the biological explanation of what goes on in our brains when we make financial decisions. It was interesting to learn that the brain of a person who thinks is about to make money is almost identical to that of a cocaine addict. This book really helped me understand myself, clients, and other investors better, and why we make decisions that we make. It was simply a fascinating read.

Neuro-economics is real- but this book won't give you the answers

The premise of the book that the way your brain works affects the decisions you make is right on target. Unfortunatrly, Zweig doesn't get to the point of how this might help you in your financial decisions. I found _Thinking, Fast and Slow_ by Dan Kahneman, to be a more thorough guide to the topic, with more practical points as to how you may use this knowledge to your advantage. Zweig is approachable and correct, but I didn't get the tips and financial insight I expected from an experienced financial guru for the uninformed. Read _Thinking_ instead.

A new and crucial topic.

If you care anything at all about your money, your future and the future of your money, then you will begin to familiarize yourself with this new field of study called Neuroeconomics. It will make you realize that in order to fix your net worth, the first thing that you need to fix is not just your income but your own thinking about money.

The interesting thing is that the interplay between the emotional side of the brain and money (or the perceived value of something in relation to money, a stock for instance) is actually an old subject. The "Fool and His Money" has been widely commented on by an assortment of people diverse enough to include Penn & Teller, Harry Houdini and Anton Lavey as well as Warren Buffett, Ben Graham and the other financial types that you would expect to see at the table for this topic.

The difference is that now it has a name that gives it more credibility as a specialized field within both psychology and economics. The subject is old, but it's serious study is quite new. Most of what you will read and hear in Neuroeconomics represents recent work. This book is an excellent place to start. Interviews with this author and related videos on Neuroeconomics can be found on YouTube. This book and those vids will give a sound introduction to this subject.

This book presents an interdisciplinary examination of cross-Taiwan Strait relations and the complex dynamics at play in the region.

Since the election of Ma Ying-jeou as Taiwan’s president in 2008, the relationship across the Taiwan Strait―long viewed as one of Asia’s most volatile potential flashpoints―has experienced a remarkable d�tente. Whether the relationship has been truly transformed, however, remains an open question and the Taiwan Strait remains a central regional and global security issue. A return to turbulence in the Taiwan Strait could also add a new dimension of instability in the already tense maritime disputes in the East and South China Seas.

While the relationship across the Taiwan Strait remains critically important, it is also changing rapidly, and the chapters in this volume present new thinking to help make sense of complex cross-Strait dynamics. Specifically, these essays explore different security and/or globalization dimensions of China-Taiwan ties as well as the globalization-security linkages that have emerged. As the balance of power in Asia shifts dramatically, several chapters in this volume explore how traditional security forces are evolving. At the same time, there are new dynamics emerging as a consequence of globalization forces, such as the tremendous economic and social integration across the Taiwan Strait, and several chapters in this volume consider some of these new problems. Finally, several chapters consider the often under-researched dynamics associated with the globalization/security interface such as cyber threats, transnational criminal networks and the security spill-over impact of production globalization.

This book will of much interest to students of Chinese Politics, Asian Security, globalisation, diplomacy and International Relations.
